In today’s business world, you can pretend like tools like Facebook and Instagram are lame and useless, but I think we all know that that’s a total load of crap, right?
The truth is, there is not a highly-successful business out there, whether it’s a brick-and-mortar or a purely online business, that can function without some level of social media involvement. Why? Because people are smart and growing more buying-savvy than ever before, and trust is something you just can’t buy like you used to with the ol’ Google Pay-Per-Click model of the 90’s (THANK GOODNESS. RIP Classic PPC, and never come back…LOL).
Let’s get real here… People hate ads that make them feel like idiots. People hate being treated like numbers. People hate being tricked into buying things that they really don’t need. But people LOVE to feel connected to other (authentic) people. People LOVE to bond with brands. People LOVE when they find a product or service that they can trust to work for them and solve their problems. That’s where social media becomes an absolutely essential element in any business of any size.
If you own a business on land or online, no matter how far along with it you are, you should be dying to get online and talk to (and bond with) a community of people that need and want EXACTLY what you offer! You should be scrambling to get on your phone and shoot a video to catch up with your crew. You should be restless about what you should teach your community next. You should be itching to build your business profiles bigger and impact more lives with the solutions you offer.
SOCIAL MEDIA DOES THAT FOR YOU SO EASILY.
I get clients all the time that ask me, “How do I make more money online FAST?” My first answer that I give, without a flinch or a hint of hesitation, is that they need to get online and start inspiring people. The second you start to become a positive light to humanity, those people want to be YOUR PEOPLE. Being associated with you is fun and uplifting, and they want to keep coming back. Making frequent appearances on social media, providing fun, uplifting, AUTHENTIC messages to your social media “family,” and talking back and forth with your followers breeds a strong, happy, devoted following that will ALWAYS help you sell more of what you sell.
THAT, my friends, is how you make more money online. Not by running after the many shiny get-rich opportunities at the end of that endless rainbow… Not by selling random junk in a Shopify store… Not by creating a phony product and cold messaging your friends on Facebook. None of that stuff works. It’s all about firmly embracing your skills and creating what you are WIRED to create and then creating the RELATIONSHIPS online that allow you to work with and impact the people that need what you offer.
Again… Social media makes this all possible on an ENORMOUS scale! So don’t bash it. Don’t fear it. Don’t hate it. LOVE that beautiful blue and white. Give that multi-colored camera icon a little high five and open it up. These tools are your friends, and with the right amount of care and upkeep, you can build a POWERFUL, incredible marketing machine that not only increases your reach, influence, and sales, but also brings you satisfaction and happiness beyond belief. Because when your impact goes farther, that means that you are literally CHANGING THE WORLD with who you are and what you stand for.
You truly have the ability to shift entire lives with what you have to offer, but you have to get it out there for the world to see! Don’t let your fear of learning something different and something new for a short period of time totally shoot your chances of spreading your influence out far and wide. You’re a leader. You’re a champion. You’re a freaking BOSS. It’s time to do this thing (and add some emojis baby!!!).
So here’s to you mom boss, daddy dreamer, the secret entrepreneur, night workers balancing-3-jobs-to-make-ends-meet person, and beyond. This is your time. This is your place. You’re totally ready to leap, so do it! Take to the Worldwide Web and jump onto a business page. It’s time to dump that doubt and embrace the energy of the online scene.
