Diuretic Water

Diuretic water

After I had my son (3rd baby), I found I was holding onto a LOT of water weight from day to day. Depending on what I eat from one day to another, I can have anywhere from TWO TO TEN POUNDS of extra water weight just sitting on me! HOLY COW! Talk about uncomfortable and annoying… Obviously, this was frustrating to me, so I decided to do some research and find something that naturally cleanses my body and releases that water weight for me.

Some of my medically-inclined friends probably already knew this, but in my research, I came across something that helps drain the body naturally (as opposed to medicating). A diuretic is something that you can take to help release excess water in your body and helps release toxins in the process. The good news is that creating this from home is amazingly simple (and I think it tastes great too)!

This recipe for Diuretic Water will help you feel way less bloated, and you’ll probably notice weight loss a day or two after drinking it. I notice that, after drinking a full gallon of this in a day, my body can release up to 10 pounds of pure water weight within 48 hours. LOVE that feeling!

So here it is! Get ready for some simple goodness!

1 Gallon of Water
2 Dandelion Herbal Tea Bags (I like Yogi brand)
1/4 C Pure Cranberry Juice (no cocktail mixes and NO added sugar – just 100% cranberry juice)
1/4 C Lemon Juice

Mix it up and let the herbal tea bags steep for about 10 minutes. Stir it up one more time, and then you’re ready to sip away!

This mix tastes best cold, so I recommend keeping your gallon container in the fridge and filling up a water bottle periodically throughout the day (instead of keeping a gallon-sized container at your side all day). Also, for those who are reading this and thinking, “she wants me to drink a freaking gallon in a DAY?,” the answer to that question is YES. You should try to drink the entire thing in one day. I always recommend drinking about a gallon of water each day, because it helps maintain the body’s natural PH, helps flush out toxins, keeps you “regular,”and assists in general weight loss. However, if you are new to the whole drink-a-gallon-of-water-each-day thing, then shoot for at LEAST 1/2 gallon. If you aren’t already doing that, it could be part of the reason you’re retaining water!

You can read more about the benefits of drinking 1/2 – 1 gallon of water a day and how to make it easier for yourself by reading my water article HERE. You may just learn something new!

And if you are struggling with regulating your bowels too, (IBS is getting more and more common because of all of the crazy additives and preservatives in our foods!!), you may want to try Shakeology. It has solved SO many stomach problems for me, and heck… it comes in CHOCOLATE… need I say more? You can learn more about it and order some HERE.

I hope that this recipe helps you feel AMAZING! It sure helps me out! 🙂 🙂

    1. Hey Becky! I drink it whenever I’m feeling really bloated or waterlogged. I usually try to drink it every day for at least 3 days if I want to do a cleanse! 🙂
